Full Stack Engineer

Play a key role in developing the industry's most innovative ML platform!

We’re growing fast, but we’re still small (20 < len(Converge) < 30), so you’ll get the opportunity to work on many different parts of the stack. Most of our work going forward will be building in ML pipelines into our stream processing architecture for our predictive models, as well as statistical aggregators and advanced data visualisations. We will also need to start reforming our infrastructure to scale up, which includes working out how to scale our time-series database and deployment processes.

Needless to say, as a small startup, everyone has a stake in what’s happening in the business, so you’ll get a lot of visibility and say in the direction of the company, as well as exposure to our customers.At Converge we believe that soft skills are essentially human skills, and therefore we value people as team players and try to make the most out of everyone's skills, whether they're technical or not.

Who you are:

  • Proven experience building large and scalable applications;
  • Proven experience with SQL (even better if it's PostgreSQL);
  • Test-driven attitude - we believe that testing is an integral part of the development process;
  • Git experience;
  • Bonus points for React / Redux experience;
  • Bonus points for Infrastructure/CI/CD experience - we value devops as a culture and therefore we want our engineers to be as autonomous as possible and have ownership of what they build.

What You’ll Get:

  • The chance to work on cool tech innovation in the world’s most important industries;
  • To hang out with a very friendly and multicultural bunch, we like our Friday beers (and other beverages if you want to 😄) and our rock-climbing escapades.
  • The pleasure of working on a well engineered code base - written by a team who values a test driven approach, a devops culture, functional programming and code as a craft.
  • Insight into the business and a say in how it’s run;
  • The satisfaction of delivering to customers who are already using our product and need us to do more.

Senior Embedded Systems Engineer

Are you ready to help us build massively scaleable wireless sensor networks for industrial monitoring?

Full Time

We are looking for a senior embedded systems engineer to join the team to help us build massively scalable wireless sensor networks for industrial monitoring. We are all about making our target industries more efficient, safer and more sustainable, and that starts with having robust, reliable sensors that get the correct data to our servers in a timely fashion. We're working on some of the largest infrastructure projects in the world, which means huge sensor networks running in tough environments delivering time-critical data. If that's the sort of challenge you like to solve, read on!

What you'll do:

  • Work on our networking stack to ensure reliability and power efficiency.
  • Reduce the power footprint of our hardware so devices can last for years on just a couple of AA batteries.
  • Take our firmware to the next level by making it fully testable on our CI servers, and simulable in virtual environments and physical rigs.
  • Help improve our "hardware devops", including introducing robust OTA updates on a low-bandwidth network.
  • Help take us to scalability, with a fully manufacturable product that we can have assembled, flashed and shipped outside of the office.
  • Help other team members through code reviews, our weekly engineering lunch-n-learns, and mentorship (where applicable).

We need you to have:

  • lots of experience building wireless devices at scale (5+ years);
  • excellent embedded C knowledge (5+ years);
  • good electronics knowledge (5+ years);
  • experience of working with analog and digital sensors over a variety of interfaces;
  • experience with unit-testing of firmware;
  • strong attention to detail;
  • a desire to build something that can completely revolutionize how someone goes about their job;
  • (bonus) experience with building simulable firmware;
  • (bonus) experience with LPWANs like LoRa or SigFox;
  • (bonus) experience with sub-GHz mesh networks.
