Signal Long Range™
How far can the Signal Long Range™ communicate?
Up to 300 m (1,000 ft) from the Converge Gateway™: Long Range when embedded in 100mm (4”) of concrete, or up to 72 acres of coverage per Gateway. The range may vary based on site layout, reinforcement density, and environmental conditions.
Can I use Signal Long Range™ underground or inside tunnels?
Yes.
Because the Converge Gateway™: Long range is site-deployable and locally managed, Signal Long Range™ can maintain reliable connections in tunnels, basements, or shielded structures where public networks (like Sigfox or cellular) fail.
What is the difference between Signal™ and Signal Long Range™?
Both are fully embedded, cable-free sensor systems.
The key difference is range and attachment design
- Signal (Bluetooth) offers real-time data via Converge Gateway™: Bluetooth or manual collection with a phone.
- Signal Long Range™ adds Long Range connectivity, giving you automatic real-time data via Converge Gateway™: Long Range or manual collection with a phone.
- Signal Long Range™ also features a unique proprietary attachment method that makes it even easier to install than any other sensor.
Is Signal Long Range™ reusable?
No.
Signal Long Range™ is a single-use embedded sensor, designed to stay permanently in the concrete for the most accurate, continuous data. If you need a reusable option, Helix offers even greater long range connectivity, uses replaceable Thermal Tails™, and reusable nodes.
How accurate are the measurements?
Signal Long Range™ sensors use digital thermal probes with ±0.5°C accuracy — around three times more accurate than thermocouples, which typically measure ±1.5°C and are not ASTM C1074 compliant. The Signal Long Range™ sensor body itself offers accuracy up to ±0.2°C. This ensures data integrity for real-time strength estimation and thermal control.
What are Thermal Tails™, and how do they work?
Thermal Tails™ are Converge’s modular temperature probes. They connect to Signal™, Signal Long Range™, and Helix® sensors interchangeably, letting you measure temperature at multiple depths or across large pours.
Each Tail can include up to three probes, with custom lengths available up to 29 m (95 ft).
Can I mix different Converge sensors on the same site?
Yes.
All Converge sensors, Signal™, Signal Long Range™, and Helix®, feed data into the same ConcreteDNA® CURE app.
You can combine embedded and reusable sensors to suit each pour, project, or budget. 3 systems, one platform, infinite possibilities.
What happens if the site loses internet connection?
No problem.
Signal Long Range™ and the Converge Gateway™ store data locally and automatically sync with ConcreteDNA® CURE once a connection is restored.
Your data is never lost, and you maintain full visibility on-site.
How is data accessed and shared?
All data is available through the ConcreteDNA® CURE mobile and web app. You can view temperature curves, strength predictions, and pour timelines in real time, and export PDF and CSV reports for QA, compliance, and record keeping.
Is Signal Long Range™ ASTM compliant?
Yes.
All Converge sensors, including Signal Long Range™ and all compatible Thermal Tails™ are fully compliant with ASTM C1074, the global standard for estimating concrete strength using the maturity method.
What power does the Gateway need?
The Converge Gateway™: Long Range supports multiple power options for total flexibility:
- Mains power for continuous uptime
- Solar panel for off-grid operation
- Battery pack for mobile or temporary setups
- 12V vehicle power for uptime on the go
This makes it suitable for even the most remote or complex job sites.
How many sensors can connect to a single Gateway?
Each Converge Gateway™ can handle hundreds of sensors within its 72-acre coverage area, depending on data frequency and site density.
You can expand coverage by adding more Gateways as your site grows. No network licensing required, unlike products that use networks such as Sigfox.
What happens if a sensor is damaged during installation?
The rugged IP68-rated casing is designed to withstand harsh jobsite conditions, including full embedment, rebar movement, and heavy vibration.
If a sensor is physically damaged before pouring, simply replace it or contact our industry regarded, world-class customer support team for assistance.
Can the system be used for thermal control in mass pours?
Absolutely.
Signal Long Range™ supports Multi-Probe Thermal Tails™ configurations for up to four measurement points per device, making it ideal for mass concrete temperature gradient analysis and thermal crack prevention.
What software do I need to view the data?
All your concrete temperature and strength data is accessible via the ConcreteDNA® CURE mobile and web app. Your data is viewable from any device, anywhere, at any time.
Can I access my data after the project finishes?
Yes.
Your data remains stored and accessible in ConcreteDNA® CURE for post-project analysis, reporting, and compliance archiving.
How do I get started?

How deep should the sensor be installed?
We recommend installing the Converge Signal sensor up to 100mm below the concrete surface, and making sure the face with the QR code is facing up.
What range of wireless connection should I expect from the sensor?
Once in concrete, the sensor range could be up to 8m, depending on the rebar configuration around the sensor and the sensor installation depth. Please ensure that you are closer than 8m and the Converge app is on your phone screen (not background) when communicating with the device.
Can I collect measurements when my phone is not connected to WiFi or data?
If you can't access the internet where the sensors are placed, the mobile app will download the measurements over Bluetooth and store them locally on the phone. But make sure to connect your phone to WiFi or mobile data, as soon as you can. Then, open the Converge app to upload the stored measurements
How long do I need to wait to collect all the data from a Signal sensor?
The app takes about a minute per day of sensor readings/data. For example, if the last collection was done on Monday, and then you go to collect data again on Thursday, there will be three days of data to be collected on the device. This data collection will take around 2 minutes or less.
