Signal Installation best practice

When installing your Signal device on rebar it is important to be aware of the risks.

Install the sensor at a maximum depth of 100mm, any deeper measurement points can be measured with the addition of a tail on the Signal sensor.

Orientate the sensor with the flat side facing up towards the surface of the pour, giving the bluetooth signal the easiest path out of the concrete enabling the quickest data collection.

The aim is to attach the sensor to the rebar as tightly as possible to avoid any chance of rotation during the concrete pour.

1) Use multiple cable ties pulled as tightly as possible

2) Attach the cable ties on two sides against a cross section of rebar

To install the tail at a fixed measurement depth you can use a loose length of rebar with a hooked end. Cable tie the length of the sensor tail to this, place down into the pour and then fix the sensor body in place as shown above.

It's also possible to trail the sensor cable down into the depth of the pour and fix with cable ties to in situ rebar.

Be careful the metal probe does not touch any metal or rebar as this could skew temperature readings.
